The compact and attractive Series 400 Fixed Temperature Heat Detector is ideal for single and dual circuit operation. Its close calibration stability, heat sensitivity, and interchangeable components make it suitable for a wide variety of applications. There is positive indication of operation, and a replaceable fusible element which provides for quick easy restoration to service.

Design Components

Base

Contains contact assembly and wiring terminals with two different switch arrangements, including single and dual contact types.

Heat Collector

Two sections soldered together by fusible eutectic alloy. The lower section drops away at fusing temperatures currently rated at 135ºF (57ºC) and 200ºF (94ºC).

Adapter Plate

Provides a decorative mounting for 3 or 4 inch octagonal junction boxes or standard plaster rings. It is supplied with the two circuit model specified for junction box mounting only, or as an accessory for the one circuit model.

Operation

The heat collector is inserted into the base unit. An upward push and a slight twist locks it into place. A spring loaded plunger in the center of the base unit is pushed upwards, setting the switch contacts to the normally open position. When the alloy fuses, the bottom section of the heat collector drops away, allowing the plunger to release and the contacts to move to the alarm position. The Series 400 detector is not a self-restoring device. After operation, the black tip of the plunger is clearly visible. It will remain in the alarm condition until the heat collector is replaced or a new detector is installed.

Optional Accessories

APC Protective Cover

High strength, molded matched white polypropylene cover fits snugly over the detector body to secure against damage or unauthorized removal. Suitable for use in temperatures up to 221ºF (105ºC).

AHC Replacement Heat Collector

Available for both models and temperature ratings.

Adapter Plate

For mounting Model A on 3 or 4 inch octagon boxes or standard plaster rings. Mounting screws are included.
